Two Beaumont Police Officers Recognized, Awarded

Officer Brent Conan and Officer Jesus Castro were also honored at this week's Beaumont City Council meeting.

Two Beaumont police officers are being praised for their hard work and dedication to the job, after recently receiving an esteemed award. 

Officer Brent Conan and Officer Jesus Castro were also honored at this week’s Beaumont City Council meeting.

The LEAC, or Law Enforcement Appreciation Committee, awards ceremony is held every year to recognize “outstanding law enforcement officers in western Riverside County for valor, investigative excellence, excellence in community service and lifetime achievement,” according to event information.

The 34th annual dinner ceremony was held in April at the Riverside Convention Center, and Officers Conan and Castro represented the Beaumont Police Department alongside officers from a dozen other agencies.

Chief Frank Coe spoke highly of his officers at the council meeting, first referencing Conan’s involvement in helping subdue and stop the alleged gunman in July 2011.

Coe also talked about Castro’s quick work with arresting and helping convict a murder suspect in less than 8 months total.  A process he says was very quick, and nearly impossible to do.

Earlier this year, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 233, also Beaumont’s Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for 2011.
