Traffic Stop in Moreno Valley Leads to Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Mail Theft Discovery

Two men were arrested in Moreno Valley and booked on suspicion of vehicle and mail theft, a police sergeant said Sunday.

The Moreno Valley Police Special Enforcement Team conducted a vehicle stop for traffic violations at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 25000 block of Bridle Trail Road and arrested driver Antonio Velez, 23, of Moreno Valley for outstanding warrants and possession of narcotics, said Sgt. Alfonso Campa. 

"The vehicle was later discovered to be stolen out of the city of Perris," he said.

Officers searching Velez' residence contacted his 38-year-old brother, Ismael Temores, also of Moreno Valley, Campa said. 

"Temores was found to be in possession of stolen property and drug paraphernalia," the sergeant said. "Investigation revealed a second stolen vehicle in the area of Bridle Trail, and several items of stolen mail to include credit cards, bank statements and items with the personal information of the intended recipients."

Both suspects were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on multiple counts, Campa said.

Temores' bail was set at $7,500 and he was scheduled to appear in Riverside Superior Court May 16, according to Riverside County sheriff's records. Velez's bail was set at $5,000 and he was scheduled to appear in Riverside Superior Court this Wednesday, March 26.
