UPDATE: Tractor Trailer Leaked Fuel on EB I-10 from Beaumont to Hwy 111

The hazardous materials incident was reported at 12:57 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 10, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

Update 3:07 p.m. A bigrig leaked diesel fuel Thursday on eastound Interstate 10 from Highland Springs Avenue to the junction with Highway 111 east of Cabazon, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said in a phone interview.

The 111 junction with the 10 is west of the Whitewater rest area, where the incident was originally reported by Cal Fire.

It was not clear how much fuel leaked altogether. Cal Fire responded with hazardous materials gear. The incident was reported by the CHP at 12:57 p.m.

Posted 2:22 p.m. Firefighters responded Thursday to a bigrig leaking diesel in the Whitewater rest area next to eastbound Interstate 10, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.

The hazardous materials incident was reported at 1:01 p.m. with a tractor trailer "steadily leaking" fuel, Cheri Patterson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said.

Three engine crews responded, and haz-mat gear was requested.

The spill was contained to about 10 gallons of diesel on the ground, Patterson said in a phone interview. The bigrig was equipped with a 250-gallon tank, Patterson said.

The tractor trailer was being towed, Patterson said shortly after 2 p.m. No injuries were reported.
