Thief, Driver Sought in San Jacinto Bus Stop Robbery

The robbery was reported just before 10 a.m. in the 1800 block of South San Jacinto Avenue, according to a Riverside County sheriff’s sergeant.

Sheriff’s investigators Saturday sought a thief and his getaway driver after the suspect got out of a van and robbed a purse from a woman waiting for a bus.

The robbery was reported just before 10 a.m. in the 1800 block of South San Jacinto Avenue, according to a Riverside County sheriff’s sergeant.

The suspect got out of a green, mid-sized van and with one hand in his jacket, he asked the victim for her purse, the sergeant said.

The woman feared that the robber was armed and became afraid, so she handed the purse over, officials said.

He got back into the van and it drove off, the sergeant said.

The robber is black, about 25 years old, 5 feet 8 with a medium build; he wore his hair short and combed and had on a brown jacket and blue jeans, officials said.

The getaway driver is a black woman, about 25, with her hair worn long and in a ponytail.

The van had Nebraska license plates.
