Storms, Lightning Ignite Several Spot Fires in Mountains, From Mt. Baldy to Oak Glen and Cabazon

Thunderstorm activity spawned lightning strikes that lit multiple spot fires Tuesday in the San Gabriel, San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountains, San Bernardino National Forest officials said. They were estimated at less than an acre each.

Thunderstorms moving across the Transverse Ranges spawned lightning that ignited several spot fires Tuesday afternoon in the San Bernardino, San Gabriel, and San Jacinto mountains.

All the fires were estimated at an acre or less as of Tuesday evening, according to San Bernardino National Forest officials.

"Currently the fires do not pose a threat to local communities, no roads or recreational facilities are impacted," forest officials stated in an Inciweb update.

The fires were listed Tuesday evening by name, time reported, and location.

- Sawmill Fire - 6:36 p.m. - near Yucaipa Ridge, two miles east of Oak Glen Conservation Camp

- Jump 2 Fire - 6:18 p.m. - the Heart Bar area, east of Barton Flats in the San Bernardino Mountains

- Sugar Fire - 5:16 p.m. - Sugarloaf Mountain in the Bear Valley area

- Baldwin Fire - 4:11 p.m. - Gold Mountain near Baldwin Lake in the Bear Valley area

- Thunder Mtn Fire #2 - 3:46 p.m. - Thunder Mountain, east of Mount Baldy

- Thunder Mtn Fire #1 - 3:21 - Thunder Mountain, east of Mount Baldy

- Snow Fire - 1:55 p.m. - below Snow Peak, north of Cabazon

- Heart Bar Fire - 10:16 a.m. - the Heart Bar area off Forest Road 1N05, east of Barton Flats

- Pilot Rock Fire - 10:11 a.m. - one mile east of Pilot Rock, north of Lake Arrowhead

The San Bernardino National Forest stretches across more than 1,000 square miles, four mountain ranges and two Southern California counties.
