A motorist told by another driver that his vehicle was smoking prompted the motorist to pull over before he was robbed at gunpoint in the Badlands Saturday, officials said.
The robbery occurred about 3 a.m. on Highway 60, east of Gilman Hot Springs, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Vic Trevino.
The motorist was traveling west on 60 when another driver pulled up alongside and told him his vehicle seemed to be smoking, Trevino said.
The victim pulled over -- as did the other driver -- and then another man approached the victim and robbed him at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of money, Trevino said.
The suspects drove off on 60, and investigators were following up on possible leads and evidence, Trevino said.
