Small Fire on Interstate 10 in Beaumont Quickly Extinguished

The brusher broke out Tuesday afternoon, and was put out within an hour.

Firefighters quickly doused a small brush fire in Beaumont Tuesday afternoon, thanks to a quick attack by nearly a dozen firefighters.

A total of 10 firefighters were sent to the blaze at the Interstate 10/ 60 Freeway interchange at around 1 p.m., according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

A total of a half-acre of brush and palm trees was burned, and crews had the fire out within an hour, according to CHP and fire reports.

Crews were cleared from the scene after some mop up by 2:30 p.m.

Beaumont police had temporarily shut down the Interstate 10 westbound onramp at 6th Street while the fire was burning.
