Silver Fire Evacuation Center, Fire Camp Set Up in Beaumont

Here is important information for people affected by the 5,000 acre fire dubbed the Silver incident.

Beaumont is again playing host to several fire resources, as the local high school has been opened up to Silver Fire evacuees and a park is serving as the base camp for firefighters.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department says Beaumont High School will be one of two evacuation centers for people cleared out of Poppet Flats, Silent Valley and Twin Pines.  Hemet High School is the other location.

According to Beaumont City Councilman Brian De Forge, Red Cross officials at Beaumont High were expecting the arrival of a camp from the affected area, south of Banning.  There are at least 50 people expected to head there, he said.

Noble Creek Park is now serving as the fire camp for personnel assigned to the Silver Fire, according to Diane Gonzales with the Beaumont Cherry Valley Recreation & Park District.

As of 4:15 p.m., the park was closed to the public until further notice, Gonzales told Patch.

As for animal evacuees, people can take their pets to the Riverside County Department of Animal Service's San Jacinto shelter, located at 581 S. Grand Ave.

"We will take in small pets and we have room for horses and smaller livestock too," said department Spokesman John Welsh.

If you have a horse that needs a place to stay because of the Silver Fire, a local ranch in Cherry Valley has offered to put them up.
