A Yucaipa man was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of raping a 24-year-old woman near the Fisherman's Retreat lakes in San Timoteo Canyon, authorities said.
Deputies responded just after 5 p.m. Monday to the 32000 block of San Timoteo Canyon Road, west of Woodhouse Road near Calimesa, said Sgt. Sean Bahash of the sheriff's Cabazon Station.
The alleged victim told deputies she was sexually assaulted at the location on Sunday, Bahash said.
Deputies arrested Michael Eric Hubbard, 32, of Yucaipa, about 11 p.m. Monday at 990 Seventh St., Calimesa, according to inmate records.
Hubbard was booked early Tuesday at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on one count of felony rape, threat of authority, according to inmate records. Hubbard's bail was set at $50,000. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday in Banning.
El Casco Lake and Fisherman's Retreat are both in or near the 32000 block of San Timoteo Canyon Road. An employee at Fisherman's Retreat said she'd heard about the domestic violence investigation but she did not know where the alleged crime occurred.
