San Jacinto-Soboba Killings Update: Third Suspect Arrested, Detectives Seek More Info

A third suspect has been arrested in a case involving three alleged homicides in San Jacinto and the Soboba Indian Reservation area, the Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday.

Robert Anthony Hernandez, 18, was arrested  at 1:45 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Sylmar area of Los Angeles and he was held without bail Wednesday morning at Robert Presley Detention Center in downtown Riverside, according to inmate records.

Hernandez, Raymond Barrera, 23, and Tawpash Durnin, 20, all of San Jacinto, "have all been charged with homicide in the three murders," Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero of the sheriff's Central Homicide Unit said in a statement.

Durnin was arrested Dec. 6 in Riverside and Barrera was arrested Aug. 30 in Beaumont, according to inmate records. She was held at Presley Detention and Barrera was held at Smith Correctional in Banning. They were also held without bail.

Below are the dates, times, names of victims, and the locations of where the homicides occurred, according to the Sheriff's Department:

File # I131780080: On June 27, 2013, at about 10:13 PM, San Jacinto deputies were dispatched to reported shots fired in the area of Hewitt Street and 5th Street, in the city of San Jacinto. Upon arrival they located a Hispanic male suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was transported to Hemet Valley Hospital; however, he died from his injury a short time later.  The victim was identified as Juan Alonso Perez, age 41 of San Jacinto.

File # I131890002: On July 8, 2013, at about 1:04 AM, deputies from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to the 300 block of W. First Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival deputies located a deceased male on the side of the roadway. The male victim had sustained several gunshot injuries. The victim was identified as Ruben Lee Zavala, age 34 of San Jacinto.

File # PE131940119: On July 13, 2013, at about 10:00 AM, Hemet Station deputies were dispatched to found human remains located about 2.5 miles south south-east of The Oaks Recreation Area on Soboba Indian Reservation. The victim sustained gunshot injuries that caused his death. The Victim was later identified as Jose Ramon Venegas, age 32 from San Jacinto.
