San Jacinto Man Allegedly Caught With Mail

Enrique Medel was detained after sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate a suspicious-looking man trying to open vehicle doors in the 300 block of Evans Street, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. David Haar.

A 34-year-old San Jacinto man was behind bars Monday night following his arrest for alleged mail theft.

Enrique Medel was detained after sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate a suspicious-looking man trying to open vehicle doors in the 300 block of Evans Street, in San Jacinto, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. David Haar.

The deputies were called about 11:30 a.m., the sergeant reported.

Deputies allegedly found the suspect in possession of numerous pieces of stolen mail from several different places in the area, the sergeant wrote in a news release.

Medel was booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property and probation violation, pending a court appearance Thursday, according to sheriff's jail records.

He was being held on a no bail commit.
