San Jacinto Man Accused of Burglary and Receiving Stolen Property

A man was arrested Thursday in San Jacinto on suspicion of possessing stolen property, possessing a controlled substance, identity theft, and being a felon in possession of ammunition, a sheriff's sergeant said.

On Jan. 16, Special Enforcement Team received info about possible narcotics sales, stolen property and identity theft items at a residence in the 1100 block of Peacock Drive, San Jacinto police Sgt. J. Orona said Jan. 23 in a statement.

Deputies investigated, got a warrant, and on Thursday they went to the residence and searched, Orona said.

"During a search of the residence numerous victims of burglaries were identified throughout the Hemet and San Jacinto area," Orona said. "Among the items located were construction equipment, numerous credit cards, items used to commit identity theft, narcotics and loaded ammunition."

Jorge Canez Martinez, 33, of San Jacinto, was arrested at 7:26 a.m. Jan. 23 and a records check showed he had a felony warrant for burglary, Orona said.

He was booked on three counts of burglary and four counts of receiving stolen property shortly after 12 noon Thursday at Smith Correctional in Banning, where he remained Thursday night on $105,000 bail, according to inmate records. He has a court date Jan. 27 in Riverside.

Anyone with more info was urged to call Officer James King at the San Jacinto Station at (951) 654-2702.
