At this time, it's not known what started the outage or how many total customers were affected.

Update 12:45 a.m.:  A Banning police dispatcher tells Patch power has been restored to all customers affected by a power outage Saturday night.

The outage lasted about two hours, and it's not yet clear what caused the issue.  Power was restored around 12:15 a.m.

Original story posted at 11:30 p.m. August 3 as follows:

Electrical utility service technicians are investigating a power outage in Banning, it's been confirmed to Patch.

Crews are in the area of Sunset and Ramsey, the Banning Police Department tells Patch.  However, at this time, it's not known what started the outage, how long it will last, or how many total customers are affected.

A dispatcher tells Patch many calls are coming to report the lights out around town.

Only Banning municipal utility customers are affected, and not those serviced by Southern California Edison.  According to the SoCal Edison outage map, none of their customers are without power in The Pass area.

Residents tell Patch they first lost power around 10:30 p.m.
