Police: Men Caught on Roof of Building During Burglary Attempt

The two San Bernardino men are accused of trying to burglarize a San Jacinto business by breaking in via its rooftop.

Two men were behind bars in Banning on Thursday on charges that they tried to break into a San Jacinto building à la Mission Impossible style—by dangling down rope into the structure to gain access.

Terry Richardson, 21, and Kynasasha McDuffie, 22, were both arrested Wednesday at the building’s location in the 700 block of South San Jacinto Street, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Sergeant S. Agcaoili.

According to Agcaoili, police had received reports of “a rope hanging inside the business from the roof, and a masked suspect seen lying on the rooftop.”

When police got there, they saw both Richardson and Kynasasha “running back and forth” on the roof, according to Agcaoili.

“Cal-Fire responded with a ladder and the suspects were taken into custody without incident,” the sergeant said.

Once authorities got onto the rooftop themselves, they say they found a rope and a duffle bag containing burglary tools.

The two men, both from San Bernardino, were booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on several felony burglary charges in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to jail records.
