PHOTOS: Law Enforcement Dogs a Big Hit at Police K-9 Competition

Law enforcement dogs and their handlers were a big hit Saturday evening at the Inland Empire Police Canine Association's annual K-9 show and competition, staged at University of Redlands' Ted Runner Stadium.

San Bernardino police Officer Jon Echeverria and K-9 Elroy took first place honors and a trophy at the end of the competition. Many people stopped  to visit with Fontana police Officer Katie Beebe and K-9 Reno on the stadium track, and Reno was still keyed up.

Corona police Officer Mike Tonioli and K-9 Prada were also popular at the stadium exit, where several children and teens stopped to pet her. Prada pulled on her leash so hard at one point that Tonioli let her go, and she ran to Tonioli's wife, Nadia Salomon.

Prada jumped to greet Salomon and stood on her hind legs to receive hugs, and Salomon said, "She knows her mama."

Beaumont High School cheerleaders sold T-shirts to benefit the Inland Empire Police Canine Association during the event in Redlands.

They did more than five hours of community service, from 2:30 p.m. To 8 p.m., said their advisor and coach, Kristy Lane.
