This article was revised at 2:35 p.m. Nov. 27 to reflect the fact that Cal Fire Copter 301 did go to assist in the rescue of the paraglider, the crew did not assist in the recovery of the man, once it was determined he had died.
A paraglider was killed in a crash into powerlines about 2,000 feet above Soboba Road in San Jacinto Sunday, officials said.
The crash in a remote area above Soboba Road was reported shortly before 2 p.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire officials.
Cal Fire helicopter 301 was sent to assist in the rescue effort but it became a recovery effort when the man died at the scene and the crew did not participate, officials said.
The Coroner's office sent an investigator to the scene to see to the removal of the remains.
