UPDATE: Driver Identified in Deadly San Jacinto Crash

Two cars were involved in a head-on crash on Sanderson Avenue Monday afternoon.

Tuesday Update:  

Authorities Tuesday identified a Hemet man who was killed when a car and a pickup truck collided head on in San Jacinto, leaving another person seriously injured.

Steven Hyde Jr., 31, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened around 2:40 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Sanderson Avenue and the Ramona Expressway, according to the Riverside County coroner's office.

He was at the wheel of a sedan that collided with a full-sized pickup truck whose female driver was taken to a hospital with major injuries, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

A motorist was killed and another seriously hurt Monday afternoon in a head-on collision in San Jacinto.

The crash was reported about 2:40 p.m. near the intersection of Sanderson Avenue and the Ramona Expressway.

"One vehicle was going east and crossed the westbound lanes, hitting the other vehicle," Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Angel Ramos told City News Service.

According to the county fire department, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, and the other driver was rushed to a hospital with major injuries.

Neither vehicle was carrying passengers.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
