One DUI Arrest, 18 Cited on License Infractions During San Jacinto Checkpoint

One person was arrested on suspicion of DUI and 18 others were cited for license infractions during a checkpoint Saturday night and early Sunday in San Jacinto, a sheriff's sergeant said.

The checkpoint was staged on Esplanade Avenue between Santa Fe Avenue and State Street from 7 p.m. Dec. 28 to 3 a.m. Dec. 29, Sgt. Robert Himmelberg of the sheriff's Hemet Station said.

An estimated total of 917 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, Himmelberg said.

Deputies in San Jacinto are planning another DUI/Driver's License operation on Saturday Jan. 18, Himmelberg said.

Checkpoints in the Hemet-San Jacinto area are funded in part by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
