An off-road motorcyclist was fatally injured Sunday near Borrego Springs and he was pronounced deceased that night at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, according to the coroner.
The crash occurred between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Dec. 29 at Ocotillo Wells State Vehicle Recreation Area, Riverside County coroner's personnel said in a statement.
Alex Chisholm, 17, of Newport Beach, was described by the coroner as an "operator of an off road motorcycle who lost control and struck own handlebars."
Chisholm was pronounced deceased at Desert Regional just after 11 p.m. Sunday, coroner's personnel said.
State Park police and rangers were investigating. The state recreation area is near the San Diego-Imperial county line.
