Night Fire Damages NE Banning Home, Three Residents Displaced

A fire broke out in a home Sunday night in northeast Banning, firefighters contained it to the attic area, and three residents were displaced, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 8:14 p.m. OCt. 13 in the 1300 block of North Blanchard Street, Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

"Firefighters responded to smoke showing from the rear of a single story, single family dwelling," Hendrickson said.

Six engine companies responded and the incident commander declared the fire contained to the attic at about 8:35 p.m., Hendrickson said.

Three residents - a woman and two male juveniles - were displaced, Hendrickson said. American Red Cross volunteers were requested for assistance.

No injuries were reported. Information about the cause was not disclosed Sunday night and it appeared the fire was still under investigation Monday, Cal Fire spokesman Mark Annas said in a phone interview.
