Night Fire Damages Home, Power Lines in Cabazon, Residents Escape Safe

The blaze was reported at 9:28 p.m. Thursday in the 14500 block of Mission Street, east of Broadway, Cal Fire says.

Fire damaged a home and power lines in Cabazon Thursday night and the residents safely escaped with no injuries, Cal Fire spokeswomen said.

The blaze was reported at 9:28 p.m. Thursday in the 14500 block of Mission Street, east of Broadway, said Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire-Riverside County.

Cal Fire and Morongo Fire engine crews responded and described the incident as "an occupied residential structure fire," Hagemann said.

"Upon arrival the first engine company reported an established fire from the rear and side of a single family home with powerlines down," Hagemann said.

"Residents safely evacuated the home," Hagemann reported at 9:50 p.m.

The fire was declared contained at 10:58 p.m. Thursday, Cheri Patterson of Cal Fire said Friday morning. No injuries were reported.

The Sheriff's Department and Southern California Edison also responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire was being investigated, Patterson said.
