Naked Burglar Arrested in Shower After Champagne + Dinner in Joshua Tree

The incident occurred Thursday night at a home in Joshua Tree, where the homeowners returned, heard somebody in the shower and called the sheriff's department.

A man allegedly broke into a home, helped himself to a bottle of champagne and a meal, and was arrested naked in the shower Thursday in Joshua Tree, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The incident was reported Thursday evening in the 63200 block of Twentynine Palms Highway, also known as State Route 62, sheriff's Sgt. Steve Wilson told KCDZ Community Radio.

Michael Calvert, 25, of Twentynine Palms, allegedly entered the home while nobody was there, drank the champagne and ate, then decided to take a shower, Wilson said.

While he was in the shower, the homeowners returned at 8:10 p.m., heard someone in the bathroom and called 911, Wilson said.

"Calvert was still in the shower when deputies arrived, who then arrested Calvert naked at gunpoint," KCDZ reported.

Calvert was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail. His bail is set at $25,000.
