Motorcyclist in Deadly Beaumont Crash May Have Been Speeding, Police Say

Beaumont police have released more information following the news that a Cherry Valley man died this weekend in a crash.

Beaumont police have released more information in a deadly weekend crash involving a Cherry Valley man.

The crash happened Saturday night in the 1200 block of Western Knolls Avenue, just west of the 60/10 freeway interchange, according to Police Spokeswoman Darci Mulvihill.

According to Mulvihill, the driver– identified by coroner's officials as 42-year-old Steven Fleming of Cherry Valley– crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle, around 7:49 p.m. after being spotted traveling "a high rate of speed."

"A witness on scene advised officers that he observed a black motorcycle traveling westbound on Western Knolls at a high rate of speed," she said.  "The motorcyclist lost control for an unknown reason and collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle."

Fleming died about an hour later at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning.

Police are still looking for more witnesses in the incident, and asked that anyone who may have information about the crash contact the on-duty watch commander at 951-769-5800.
