A resident at the Tuesday night meeting with Banning Police Officers Association members asked whether there is a hiring moratorium at the department.

Banning police Cpl. Brandon Smith and Cpl. Joe Feola were among police union members who answered questions Jan. 7 at Russo's Italian Kitchen.

The BPOA is the union for all 24 sworn non-administration personnel who work for the Banning Police Department, said Smith, an elected representative of the Banning Police Officers Association.

So according to this normal pay for an officer is from $56k - $75k. Because the department is short-staffed, overtime accounts for another $75 - $80k. This does not sound out of line with reality. I'm concerned with the disclaimer that the state does not back these figures or vouch for their correctness. **** Jeremiah
