Update 4:37 p.m. Two women and two children were hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries from a rollover crash Friday afternoon next to westbound Interstate 10 in Banning, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

The crash occurred at 2:45 p.m. when the driver of a white 2001 Honda CRV swerved to exit at the Highland Springs Avenue off-ramp, lost control, struck an asphalt curb on the ramp, and went down an embankment, Darren Meyer of the San Gorgonio Pass CHP said.

The front of the car  went into a drainage and airbags inside the vehicle went off, Meyer said.

The driver, who is a 30-year-old woman from Banning, another Banning woman in the front passenger seat, and two children in the back seat were all taken by ambulance to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, Meyer said.

Their injuries were considered minor to moderate, Meyer said, noting medics sent the patients to the trauma center in Moreno Valley rather than San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital just up Highland Springs from the crash scene.
