Man's Body Found Near I-10 in Whitewater

The sheriff's department says they are investigating the death.

A man's death is being investigated Tuesday, after his body was found in a wash at a freeway underpass, sheriff's officials tell Patch.

According to Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. James Burton, the department was sent to the wash under Interstate 10,  west of the intersection of Tamarack Rd. and Fremontia, in the Whitewater area around 9:21 a.m.

"Upon arrival they located a deceased Hispanic male adult, who had died from an unknown cause," Burton said in a news release.  "The body was located approximately seven feet north of the northern edge of the westbound I-10 guardrail, in the wash, approximately twenty-three feet below the freeway."

Sheriff's detectives and homicide investigators, along with the coroner's bureau, were then sent to the scene.

Though the man's cause of death is not yet known, officials do not believe foul play is involved, according to Burton.

The man's identity is being withheld until family is notified.
