REPORT: Man Tries to Grab Her Purse, She Resists, He Rips Necklace Off Her

The incident occurred on Jan. 28 in the 1400 block of San Jacinto Avenue and the woman reported it Jan. 31, Sgt. R. Himmelberg of the San Jacinto Station said.

Deputies in San Jacinto were seeking info Friday on a man who tried to grab a woman's purse and ripped a necklace off her neck when she resisted, a sheriff's sergeant said.

The incident occurred on Jan. 28 in the 1400 block of San Jacinto Avenue and the woman reported it Jan.  31, Sgt. R. Himmelberg of the San Jacinto Station said.

The woman reported she was approached by a male who asked her for a cigarette and then attempted to steal her purse, Himmelberg said in a statement.

"The victim struggled with the suspect, and she retained possession of her purse," Himmelberg said. "The suspect ripped a necklace from the victim's neck and fled on foot."
