Man Suspected of San Jacinto Shooting Released from Banning Jail on Bail

Police believe the man fired shots at a group of people earlier this week.

A man suspected of shooting at a group of people in San Jacinto was out on bail Wednesday.

Someone reported that a man had fired shots toward a group of people near Sixth Street and Jordan Avenue about 9:45 p.m. Monday. The suspect was seen driving off in a white Chevrolet Silverado truck, sheriff's Sgt. Michelle Larson said. She didn't say if the suspect, Reuben Anthony Briones, knew any of the people at whom he allegedly was shooting.

Deputies soon stopped a vehicle matching the description from witnesses, and found an unregistered loaded 9 mm handgun and a shell casing in the truck. Briones, the driver, was arrested on suspicion of discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a concealed firearm.
