Man Injured in Off-Road Quad Accident in South Banning, Airlifted by Helicopter

The accident was reported at 4:36 p.m. in a hard-to-reach area of Porter Street, below Highway 243, according to Cal Fire.

A man was injured in an off-road quad accident Monday in south Banning and a rescue helicopter was called in to fly him to a trauma center, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.

"Firefighters are on scene of an off road accident involving a quad that rolled, causing traumatic injury to the lower extremity of the rider," Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

One engine crew, one ambulance crew, and one helicopter crew responded, Hagemann said.

"The rider, an adult male is being transported to an area trauma center by CAL FIRE Copter 301," Hagemann reported at 5:20 p.m.

The man's injuries were described as critical. Agencies responding included American Medical Response.
