Man Hospitalized in Cabazon Fire

Fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked a blaze in Cabazon this weekend.

A weekend fire in Cabazon that sent one person to the hospital was under investigation Monday, fire officials said.

The fire broke out Sunday night, just after 9 p.m., in the 14800 block of Almond Street, near Dolores Ave., according to Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department.

A man who was trying to help put out the flames had to be hospitalized after breathing in too much of the smoke, she added.

"An adult male that was trying to extinguish the fire was transported to an area hospital via ground ambulance due to minor smoke inhalation," she said.

The fire was contained by 9:30 p.m. by 17 responding firefighters, according to fire reports.
