One man was badly burned, two mobile homes were destroyed, and a third mobile home was severely damaged in a fire Saturday evening at the Water Wheel Resort on the Colorado River north of Blythe, a Cal Fire spokesman said Monday.

The fire was reported at 7:12 p.m. Nov. 30 in the 29600 block of U.S. Route 95, about 20 miles north of Blythe in far east Riverside County, Calif., according to Cal Fire spokesman Mark Annas.

Nine engine companies responded and they dealt with three mobile homes on fire, according to Annas.

"Fire was contained to three single wide mobile homes at 9:30 p.m.," Annas said in a statement. "Two mobile homes were completely destroyed by the fire. The third mobile home sustained damage to 75% of the structure."

One patient, a man, was flown by a Guardian Air Ambulance crew to a regional burn center with major burn injuries, Annas said Monday Dec. 2.

Information about the cause of the fire was not released. Agencies that responded included Blythe Ambulance, Blythe Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
