Man Arrested in Connection with El Paseo Break-In

Palm Desert Police say a transient broke into a tobacco business on El Paseo early Sunday.

A man who Palm Desert Police called a transient is suspected of breaking into an El Paseo business on Sunday and smashing a front glass door to escape.

Tyler Darrah, 23, was booked into the Indio Jail on suspicion of commercial burglary and for a violation of probation, according to a Palm Desert Police news release.

The theft was reported at 6:34 a.m. Sunday. Deputies were called to a tobacco business in the 72-600 block of El Paseo on a report of a burglary alarm.  They found that someone had broken into the business through the rooftop, officials said

Once inside, police said the intruder set off the alarm causing the burglar to smash the front glass door in order to escape.The culprit made off with several cartons of cigarettes, according to Police Corporal Angel Ramos.

Deputies checked the area. They detained Darrah at a nearby fast food restaurant. Officers did not specify but said they found evidence linking Darrah to the crime

The cigarettes were not recovered, Ramos said.

I bet it was to buy more meth, need to get meth out of this town now. its getting bad.
