UPDATE: 'At Risk' Runaway Boy Found in Murrieta

Sheriff's deputies said the boy-- who takes medication to prevent seizures-- had been missing since Wednesday evening.

Update 10 p.m.:

Sheriff's deputies confirm that 12-year-old Nicholas Oliver Acosta has been found, and is safe.

"Nicholas was found unharmed at a friend’s residence on Falconer Drive in Murrieta and returned to his residence," deputies said in a statement.

No other details about how he was located were provided.

Original story as follows:

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is asking the public to keep an eye out for a missing boy, who they believe ran away from home.

Nicholas Oliver Acosta, 12, has been missing since around 6 p.m. Wednesday night, when he was last spotted at his Menifee home on Copper Terrace, according to sheriff's Lt. Charles Wilhite.

A bloodhound later picked up his scent in Murrieta.

"Menifee police officers, with the assistance of a Riverside Sheriff’s bloodhound, were able to establish that Nicholas was in the area of the Alta Murrieta Sports Park in Murrieta around 9:30 p.m.," Wilhite said.  "His whereabouts since that time are unknown."

According to the lieutenant, Nicholas takes medication for preventing seizures and is considered "at risk"-- however foul play is not suspected in the boy's disappearance.

Nicholas is described as white, about 4'10" tall and weighs approximately 95 pounds.  He has brown hair, hazel eyes and may be riding a red BMX bicycle, police said.
