Hummer Slams Into Banning Building, DUI Suspected

The vehicle drove off the road and into Banning Driveline Service, at 1550 E. Ramsey St.

Banning police are investigating a suspected drunk driving case that ended with a vehicle taking out part of a building this week, police said Thursday. 

According to police, a white Hummer H1 ran off Ramsey Street and into a building in Banning at around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

The driver, Lloyd Marcus of Banning, 34, was transported to the Riverside County Regional Medical Center, but no one else was injured, police said. There was one passenger.

"Marcus was later arrested and cite released at the hospital for drunk driving," Banning police said in a press release.

It is unknown what the extent of his injuries are.  No one was hurt inside the building when the crash happened, police added.

The business hit, Banning Driveline Services, was temporarily closed while the building was examined for structural damage by code enforcement officers on Wednesday.  

As of Thursday-- rubble remained scattered in front of the building, but the business appeared to be operating.
