A Hemet resident reported an alleged burglary in progress Tuesday and police responded and caught two juveniles, a police lieutenant said in a news release.

The burglary was reported at 10:12 a.m. Jan. 29 in the 400 block of North Yale Street, Hemet police Lt. Eric Dickson said.

"The home owner told dispatch that two black males were attempting to break into her home," Dickson said.

Multiple police units responded and the suspects ran, jumping through yards and then running down adjoining streets, Dickson said. Police set up a search perimeter and with assistance from residents they found the suspects hiding in an apartment complex in the 100 block of North Yale.

The suspects were detained and "positively identified as the suspects attempting to break into the home," Dickson said.

Preliminary investigation showed the suspects tried to get in the front of the home, then jumped in the back yard and tried to break in through a rear bathroom window, Dickson said.

The names of the suspects were withheld because of their ages, 15 and 16. They were taken to a juvenile facility.
