HOLIDAY TRAFFIC: Motor Home Out of Gas on EB 60 in Badlands

Increasing holiday traffic and a motor home out of gas in the Badlands led to a back-up for motorists Wednesday afternoon on the eastbound 60 west of Beaumont, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

The motor home was reported out of gas at 1:20 p.m. in one lane on the eastbound 60 east of Gilman Springs Road, according to the CHP.

Traffic was backing up due to holiday traffic and the motor home, the dispatcher said in a phone interview.

Earlier Wednesday, a crash on the eastbound 60 at Jackrabbit Trail led to backed up traffic for about a mile, one motorist said from the scene.

Thanksgiving is one of the busiest times of the year on Southern California roads and the CHP is planning increased patrols for the Thanksgiving Maximum Enforcement Period, Wednesday Nov. 27 to Sunday Dec. 1.
