A hiker was recovering Sunday from a fall 50 feet down over a hiking trail on the Bump and Grind in Rancho Mirage, authorities said.
The rescue was effected following the fall about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County fire's Melody Hendrickson.
Emergency crews rescued the hiker with ropes and he was airlifted to a hospital.
His injuries were termed moderate, Hendrickson reported.
