Highway Patrol Seeking New Gifts for 14th Annual CHiPS for Kids Toy Drive

Unwrapped toys can be dropped off 8a to 5p weekdays at San Gorgonio CHP office on Highland Springs Ave in Beaumont.

The California Highway Patrol is seeking gifts for less fortunate children this Christmas.

The 14th Annual CHiPS for Kids Toy Drive will be centered at the Galleria at Tyler in Riverside. But anyone can donate new, unwrapped toys at the San Gorgonio CHP station on Highland Springs Avenue in Beaumont, according to CHP Capt. J.L. Flores.

"Help us make the holidays special for less fortunate children in our community by bringing a new, unwrapped toy," Flores said in a statement. "The toys will be delivered to hospitalized and disadvantaged children just in time for the holidays."

Highway Patrol officers will be at the Galleria at Tyler on Monday Dec. 5, Wednesday Dec. 7, Saturday Dec. 9, Sunday Dec. 10, Dec. 14-16, and Dec. 19.

Toys can be dropped off at the San Gorgonio CHP station, 195 S. Highland Springs Ave., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, said CHP Officer Darren Meyer.

In addition, the CHP has set up boxes for receiving gifts at local Starbucks and Walgreens, Meyer said.

"All gifts donated locally will stay local," Meyer said Monday in a phone interview. "They will stay in the local community and go to deserving children."

The Galleria at Tyler is located off of State Route 91 at Tyler Street in the City of Riverside.
