UPDATE: Juveniles Playing With Fire Caused Garage-Shed-Dumpster Blaze

The fire was reported at 1:28 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of West Wilson Street, according to Cal Fire. One civilian suffered smoke inhalation.

Update 6:44 p.m. Investigators determined juveniles playing with fire started the blaze that caused an estimated $55,000 in damage Sunday in Banning, Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire-Riverside County said.

"The damage resulted in one shed that stored antiques, one two-car garage and several hundred feet of power lines," Hagemann said.

A civilian was treated for minor smoke inhalation but was not transported to a hospital, Hagemann said.

Posted 2:44 p.m. A fire in Banning damaged a garage, shed, dumpster and about 400 feet of power lines Sunday afternoon on West Wilson Street, and one civilian suffered smoke inhalation, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 1:28 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of West Wilson Street with two structures and power lines involved,  said Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire-Riverside County.

Six engine crews with 19 firefighters responded. The incident commander requested paramedics before 1:55 p.m. to evaluate the person with smoke inhalation, according to Hagemann.

The fire involved a detached, two-car garage, a shed, a dumpster and 400 feet of power lines, Hagemann said.

"Fire is contained," Hagemann said in a 2:20 p.m. update. "Eleven residents will be without power for up to 12 hours while the utility company makes repairs. Firefighters will remain at the scene for 2-3 hours."

Responding agencies included American Medical Response, Banning Electric, and the Riverside County Office Of Emergency Services, Hagemann said.

The cause of the fire was being investigated.
