Task Force Deputies Patrol Banning

A team of deputies stopped a man in a vehicle and questioned him Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of West Ramsey Street. He was not detained or arrested.

Members of the San Gorgonio Gang Task Force were on patrol Thursday afternoon in Banning.

Around 2 p.m. a team of deputies stopped a man in a sports utility vehicle in the 500 block of West Ramsey Street and questioned him. He was not detained or arrested.

One of the deputies said the stop was routine and it had nothing to do with the Ilusion Barber & Beauty Salon or the H&R Block office where the stop occurred.

Task force personnel are based at the Banning police station, and they provide an extra law enforcement presence to help deal with gang-related issues, Chief of Police Leonard Purvis said in a recent interview.
