UPDATED: Big Rig Slams Into Tree Near 60/10 Interchange in Beaumont
CHP confirms that State Route 60, just west of the Interstate 10 connector, was closed to facilitate clean-up of a big rig crash in the area.
UPDATE 8 a.m.: CHP reports that the closure lasted less time than anticipated, and have re-opened the 60 freeway in Beaumont following a semi truck collision in the area.

Drivers looking to head westbound this morning from Beaumont should not plan on taking State Route 60, as Caltrans and CHP are working on a full freeway closure in the area, officials tell Patch.

The closure is being done to allow crews to clear a big rig from the roadway that crashed around 6:15 a.m. into a tree along the shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Initial reports indicated that the driver of the truck may have been pinned under the vehicle, but a CHP dispatcher tells Patch the person escaped serious injury.

Logs indicate the towing company requested a full westbound closure to help clear the wreckage. CHP says a closure could last until around 9 a.m.
