Former Beaumont Resident Accused of Molesting Two Teen Girls A Decade Ago

David Martinus Reiakvam Jr., 43, a dentist and gymnastics coach, is a former resident of Beaumont, Riverside police Detective Laura Ellefson said.

A dentist and gymnastics coach who used to live in Beaumont is accused of molesting two teen girls a decade ago, and he is going to be tried in Riverside.

David Martinus Reiakvam Jr., 43,  faces charges of lewd acts, oral copulation and sexual penetration with a foreign object with two teens.

Reiakvam is a former resident of Beaumont, said Riverside police Detective Laura Ellefson, who testified against Reiakvam during a preliminary hearing Monday in Riverside Superior Court.

The girls - 15 and 16 years old at the time of the alleged crimes - were Reiakvam's dentistry patients and his students at Empire Acrogymnastics on Market Street in Riverside, according to Ellefson.

The incidents began in 2001 at Reiakvam's home in the 11500 block of Orion Street in Riverside, police and presecutors said.

The first victim was 15 years old when she moved in with her acrogymnastics coach and his then-wife.

One night when Reiakvam's wife was not around, the man and teen played what the detective called the "touching game" in his computer room.

The man - then about 33 years old - and the girl took turns touching each other in increasingly provocative places, the detective said.

Days later, the two kissed, and a few days after that, they met in the computer room when the wife was not home again, and he orally copulated the girl, the detective testified.

He attempted to have intercourse with her, but "it hurt too much, so he stopped," the detective said.

In the following days, the man and teen started having sex on a regular basis until May, 2001, when he and his wife separated and some other people moved into the house, Ellefson said.

The second victim, a 16-year-old girl who was first a patient and then worked in Reiakvam's Temecula office, also lived with the man when they allegedly began a sexual relationship in February 2002.

The man regularly slipped into the girl's bedroom via a shared bathroom. He would then touch and caress the girl until she woke up, when they would have sex, according to the detective.

"She said it happened as a daily occurrence the entire time she lived there," Ellefson said.

Reiakvam had sexual contact with the 16-year-old victim in a car parked outside his Temecula dentistry office after one of her appointments, according to Ellefson.

Reiakvam sold the Temecula business within the last two years, according to Tera Harden, Reiakvam's attorney.

Reiakvam also once took the 16-year-old victim and an unnamed friend to Hustler, an adult club in Los Angeles, before they were 18 years old, said Debra Postil of the District Attorney's office.

The next court date for Reiakvam is Oct. 28 in Dept. 42, Riverside Superior Court.
