Five Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Rain-Slickened Highway 243 in Idyllwild

The roads in Idyllwild were slick with rain at the time, Capt. James Reyes of the Idyllwild Fire Protection District said in a phone interview before 11 a.m. Saturday.

Five people were injured Saturday morning in a two-vehicle, head-on collision on rain-slick Highway 243 in Idyllwild.

The crash was reported at 7:43 a.m. at the 243 and Marion View Drive near a curve in south Idyllwild, according to Cal Fire.

"Firefighters from Idyllwild Fire Protection District responded to a two-vehicle head on collision," Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

The incident resulted in the transport of five patients - two with moderate injuries and three with minor injuries, Hagemann said.

"It's not snowing yet, just rain," Reyes said. "If anyone's coming up today they need to do it early and get down again before the heavy snow comes."
