UPDATED: Bogart Fire Fully Contained, Size Much Less Than Earlier Estimates

Update 8 p.m.: 

The Bogart Fire in Cherry Valley is now 100 percent contained, thanks to the day-long efforts of firefighting crews.

What's more, the size of the blaze has been cut to less than half of original estimates.

"Due to more accurate mapping, the acreage has been downgraded to 31 acres," Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department said.

A fire that broke out Friday evening in Cherry Valley is now 30 percent contained, thanks to overnight firefighting efforts, according to fire officials.

Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department says the Bogart Fire-- which first broke out around 5:30 p.m. Friday at Bogart Park-- is still 100 acres in size.

"The day assignment consists of 10 engines, four handcrews, one watertender and three overhead for a total of 94 firefighters," she said.
