Fire Scorches Vacant Building in Banning

A predawn second alarm fire scorched an abandoned commercial building this holiday weekend in Banning.

Dispatchers received a 911 call at 4:51 a.m. on July 4 and sent firefighters to the 800 block of Lincoln Street. Arriving firefighters asked for more people and equipment to fight the blaze, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Fuhrman said.

By 7:30 a.m., firefighters contained the fire to the outside portion of a wall and floor assembly of the vacant two-story building. No injuries were reported, Fuhrman said.
