PHOTOS ADDED: Fire Scorches 2 to 3 Acres Near I-10 Junction with SR-111

The fire was reported at 9:11 a.m. Monday in grass and brush near the junction of Interstate 10 and Highway 111, according to Cal Fire. More than 80 firefighters responded, along with aircraft support.

A fire scorched two to three acres Monday morning near the town of San Gorgonio, where Highway 111 splits off Interstate 10, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported in grass and brush at 9:11 a.m. Monday with initial potential to burn a hundred acres, said Cheri Patterson of Cal Fire-Riverside County.

More than 80 firefighters responded, along with two tanker planes and water-dropping helicopter, Patterson said.

Forward progress of the fire was stopped at 10:22 a.m., Patterson said.

It was 88 degrees with 35 percent humidity during the fire fight, Patterson said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was being investigated.
