Fire Kills Woman, One Arrested
Juan Manuel Ramirez-Calderon was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on reckless burning and involuntary manslaughter.
A Hemet man was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning Thursday night after a fire he started got out of control, burning a mobile home and killing the person who owned it.
The fire began around 4 p.m. when Juan Manuel Ramirez-Calderon was burning yard debris on Louis Lane in south Hemet, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. It quickly spread and eventually consumed five acres and a mobile home. The mobile home was believed to be unoccupied, but at 8:05 p.m. sheriff's deputies were called back to the scene when Cal Fire discovered human remains near the near the charred structure.
The body is believed to be that of a 79-year-old woman who was the sole occupant of the mobile home. Her name is being withheld until he family is notified.

Cal Fire's investigation found that Ramirez-Calderon was hired to maintain a property on Taffle Ranch Road. The fire he started quickly grew out of control and spread to the neighboring property on Louis Lane. He was arrested for reckless burning and involuntary manslaughter.
