Fire Damages 10,000 Square-Foot Commercial Building in Banning

A fire broke out Thursday afternoon in a 10,000 square-foot, one-story commercial building south of Interstate 10 and the railroad tracks in Banning, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 5:08 p.m. Sept. 5 near John Street and South San Gorgonio Avenue, Mark Annas of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.


Six engine companies responded and the fire was declared contained at 5:36 p.m., Annas said.

The fire was kept in the loft area of the building, Annas said. Firefighters intended to remain on scene for about one hour.

Information about the cause of the fire was not disclosed. Banning police also responded.
