Fire Crew Knocks Down Blaze on 60 Freeway Center Divider in Badlands

A fire was reported at 2:24 p.m. Saturday in the center divider of the 60 Freeway in the Badlands, according to the California Highway Patrol. Crew with Cal Fire-Beaumont Engine 66 responded and had the blaze knocked down by 3 p.m.

A fire broke out Saturday in the center divider of the 60 Freeway in the Badlands, near the Gilman Fire burned area, and Beaumont firefighters extinguished the flames.

The fire was reported at 2:24 p.m. in the center divider of the 60 Freeway in the Badlands, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Crew with Cal Fire-Beaumont Engine 66 responded and had the blaze knocked down by 3 p.m.

The fire was near the highest point of the 60 as it passes through the Badlands, in the same area the Gilman Fire burned more than 1,000 acres Aug. 6-7.

The Gilman Fire burned in dry grass on private and Bureau of Land Management property south of the 60. The Badlands on the north side of the 60 did not burn.
