UPDATE: Fire Breaks Out in Beaumont Neighborhood, Seven Displaced

Update 12:20 p.m. Seven residents were displaced by a fire that broke out Thursday on Edgar Avenue in Beaumont, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 10:42 a.m. Jan. 23 in the 1000 block of Edgar, west of Beaumont Avenue, Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

"The fire was contained at approximately 11:43 a.m.," Hendrickson said in an update. "Seven residents (six adults and one toddler) will be displaced and American Red Cross was requested by the Incident Commander for assistance.  No injuries reported."

 A fire broke out before 11 a.m. Thursday in a Beaumont neighborhood and a home was reported damaged, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 10:42 a.m. Jan. 23 in the 1000 block of Edgar Avenue, west of Beaumont Avenue, Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

Eight engine companies responded with more than 25 firefighters, and the first personnel on scene "reported heavy fire showing from the exterior of a single story, single family dwelling," Hendrickson said.

Southern California Edison and the Southern California Gas Company were also on scene, Hendrickson said. No injuries had been reported as of 11:30 a.m.
